All those things we do in excess - watch too much TV, drink too much, eat too much, surf around on the computer too much, video game too much, - you know - all those mind numbing, feeling zapping things we do - - those are all little temper tantrums. That's us saying, "I don't like life - as it is."
It's all good and well if it's a rare little temper tantrum, more like a little break from the world. The problem is when these things become the norm, when we are doing something mind-numbing and feeling-zapping all the time. rather than embracing life - as it is. That is a problem because life - as it is - isn't going to go away just because we have immersed ourselves in anything that will stop us from seeing, thinking, feeling or experiencing it. Life will remain. A bill not paid doesn't go away, it goes to the collection agency.
And that's what life does too. It gets a little in-your-face-kinda-nasty on you. If you aren't paying attention, things happen. When you are refusing to notice, it will make itself noticed, and not necessarily through the nicest, easiest means. the more you avoid it, the louder it gets. The more you hide away from it, the more it will pester you. And pester you. And pester you.
So - go ahead, take a little break, have your little temper tantrum, but then take a deep breath and look around. Look at your life in detail until you find what it is you don't like, and what it is you are going to do about it. Hiding your head in the sand won't do anything, but you can change your life, if you want to. Problems (like bills!) don't go away on their own, but only give them your undivided attention and they will get weak at the knees, they will break, fall and dissolve.
Blessings.
