On this Mother's Day I honor all of life, for without mothers it would not exist. But for the rest, Mother's Day for me, like birthdays and new years, is another opportunity to reflect. Today I reflect on how much we need to give to ourselves.
It is not so much about receiving presents but about giving myself a moment of silence between sadhana and the bustle of a work/school day morning to savor silence with a cup of tea, or taking five minutes out of a jam-packed day to sit and gently rub life back into tired feet, making sure there is time to spend with friends to laugh away the wiles and woes of all we encounter in this busy day and age, making sure there is time to sit with my child and appreciate the wonders of his youthful mind and lend myself to truly listening to his heart.
And though we have thousands of them, there is simply no excuse not to take care of ourselves, and every reason to do so. On this Mother's Day, in the heart of spring when life is so hopeful, I give to myself the courage, the faith, the hope and the willingness to take one step at a time towards better health and a happier life. Whether you are a mother or not, I hope you do the same.
With love and blessings!
