What if that one thing is meant to be the lesson we have to learn but we are so tied up in worrying about it that we never get to see the lesson in it? Here is a new experiment. Take the ONE THING you worry the most about and let it go for a week.
What would that look like? What would life be like without that one troublesome thing that keeps you up at nights, makes you grumpy, frustrated, angry, hopeless and otherwise drives you crazy? What WOULD life be like??
Worry is one of those manmade patterns of thought that has little or no real use in the grander sense of things. Worry does not solve problems, it doesn't change situations, it doesn't really do anything except make you feel bad.
There are so many other positive alternatives to worrying, so many things you could do to actually change a situation. So here's the experiment. Instead of worrying write down a list of 5 things you can do to make any change, however slight, to the worrisome situation, and instead of worrying this week, do one of those things each day. It could be a prayer, a meditation, a phonecall, a meeting - what you do is not as important as the fact that you do something that can have a positive affect on the situation, i.e. start shifting the energy of it.
In this way, worry really can be the lesson giver - teaching us to take action rather than allow sit in the stagnant and painful energy of worry...
It's an experiment. Give it a try.
Blessings.
