It is curious sometimes how very much the stars and the superstars have taken on this idolatry position in the media. They are held responsible in ways mere mortals aren't, and they are chased so that not a minute of their lives can be private.
And yet, how did they get to this spotlight in the first place? I have a theory about how this fascination become a part of modern day life. There seems to be some fascination with people who represent having reached some form of greatness within themselves. It is almost as if they find themselves inside some role, and this is it; because dwelling within YOU is greatness and it is recognized.
The fascination is our own preoccupation with with dwelling withing our own selves. We see that someone has done (or represents) what we ourselves yearn for so much and in this modern day crazed media they somehow become a substitute for our own achievement of greatness.
Greatness is by no means defined by "stardom" (especially in today's world), however, it is something tangibly recognizable within ourselves. This is what we long for and this is, essentially, what the media is selling us, the element of our own greatness we so want to live.
That greatness is not defined by traits like confidence, success, or clarity, but these are clearly products of living in our greatness. And what is stopping us from living in our greatness? Only fear. Nothing else.
The antics of the stars, the marriages, divorces, drunken brawls, deaths, births etc, are not the true source of our fascination. The stars catch our attention because they remind us that greatness is within; totally accessible, totally dying for us to wake up and take the reins so that we can live in the truth of Who We Really Are.
Go out into the world and bless the world. Bless the world with YOU.
Blessings.
