A spiritual path is an adventure. There are all sorts of knicks and turns and deviations. There are episodes of fear, episodes of anger, episodes of ego, and you have to keep trudging along until you go deeper.
There are trials and tribulations, there are intense times of incredible, almost hair-raising insight, and there are times when it takes every cell in your body to keep up, and you have to keep trudging along until you go deeper.
There are times when you firmly believe that your every action and every step is highly spiritual, only to find you forgot forgiveness, or you forgot unconditional love, or you forgot that judging others wasn't a part of that holiness you've been studying. Ooops. And you have to keep trudging until you go deeper.
There are times when you've practiced your discipline hard, learned the techniques that uplift and yet your mind still wanders and jabbers on endlessly so that there is no silence. There are times when you start thinking about your own actions and the actions of others, and there are times when you start thinking about your thoughts. And then you have to keep trudging until you deeper still.
The spiritual path of the heart is still not reached - with all this practice, with all this dedication, with all this discipline. Because the spiritual path of the heart is when you begin to understand that you are responsible for how you feel and how you got to be where you are right now, and it's unfortunately one of the late lessons in spirituality.
After you've done all the work, learned the mantras and the prayers, learned the yoga mudras and the postures, then it's time to recognize that you are the maker of your life. Then you have empowered yourself to reach your highest destiny. Then you have embodied forgiveness, unconditional love and non-judgment (aka presence). Then you have finally reached the heart.
Keep going until you get there. Spirituality has only this one goal - to reach the heart. The rest is just practice, a way to hone your skill at letting go of ego and embracing the path that takes you to your highest destiny, your heart.
Blessings.
