A New Life

"Every one of us is called upon, probably many times, to start a new life. A frightening diagnosis, a marriage, a move, the loss of a job... And onward full tilt we go, pitched and wrecked and absurdly resolute, driven in spite of everything to make good on a new shore." - Barbara Kingsolver

Life is like a choppy ocean, waves change size and change strength, some gently sway us, others tip us over, and in all of it we hold the reins, the steering wheel. We hold on to our hope, examining possibility after possibility, and perservering despite all.

And somehow we make it, simply because we are "driven in spite of everything to make good on a new shore." It is our instinct, how could we settle for less? Why spend the time fretting over the decimal measurement of the wave that just hit us? Why worry about how much salt is in the water? Just swim!

Life is what it is, and the quicker we accept that, and the better we know where we want to be, the easier it is to keep hope, to not give up in the light of daunting or even debilitating experiences. We can go down a different road, if this one doesn't work out. We can choose a different career, we can work at the five and dime if need be. The possibilities are endless. It's our hope we have to keep up.

Life happens, and you will, undoubtedly be called upon in some way, shape or form to start a new life. Breathe into it, open your arms, accept it and say thank you. Your possibilities are endless. Just keep up.

Blessings.
