Life is so earnest; the processes, the learning, the intensity - but it's important to remember to lighten up a little and play sometimes.
Giggle with a child, watch a silly movie, go out to lunch with the girls, or take a guys night out, dance in the funniest way you can, make funny faces in the mirror or at each other, make up goofy words and give them even goofier meanings, read a book that makes you laugh out loud, laugh out loud for no reason, make a contest of the funniest laugh out loud, raise your arms to the skies, twirl for no reason, jump up and down excitedly in a store when you find something you wanted, try to laugh and snort at the same time, tell jokes, play at a playground, create a playground of rocks and sticks, jump rope, play hopskotch, play board games, wriet a dramatic poem to the one you love, draw pictures that make no sense, smile at people all day, go somewhere different after work, try something new, listen to good comedians, do somersaults, try 100 jumping jacks...
In the Medicine Cards it is the Porcupine who reminds us to play. "Porcupine has many special qualities, and a very powerful medicine: the power of faith and trust. The power of faith contains within it the ability to move mountains. The power of trust in life involves trusting that the Great Spirit ha sa divine plan. ... In today's society, this is a needed reminder to honor the wonder of life and the appreciation of each day as an adventure of discovery."
It's too easy to get jaded and lost in every day routine. It's too easy to forget that we are given a new playground everyday as na adventure of self-discovery. It's too easy to forget that fear, greed and unhappiness are simply choices that we make, just like love, abundance and happiness are simply choices.
"You can't win the game of life if you are too serious." So take some time today and play.
Blessings
