To Thine Own Self Be True

What happens when we are not true to ourselves is that we go out of sync. Our spirits tells us, "hey, you're out of sync, you need to be doing (saying, making, etc) this," but we ignore it. Well, then the mind steps in, making the message more urgent, "Yo! Yes, I was speaking to you, something's out of whack here, you need to be doing (xyz)." When these two built in security systems have failed, it shows up in the body - in the form of illness, pain or discomfort. The body is saying, "Look, we keep telling you you're out of sync and you're not paying attention. I'm real sorry about this, but WAKE UP!"

In our modern day world we want to fix things by covering them up - if we have pain, we take pain relievers, if we are sick we take anti-biotics, if we are uncomfortable, we blame it on a whole lot of things. But it comes back to - - To Thine Own Self Be True. If you look at the pain as a SCREAMING RED LIGHT YELLING AT YOU IN CAPS instead of an inconvenience, it can really tell you alot.

All the things we dislike about ourselves are also SCREAMING RED LIGHTS. Oh, "I'm so fat," we say, or "I'm so stupid," or "I'm so disorganized," or "I'm so..." But all of these character traits are the red lights on the mental level. Habits of thought are created in response to being out of sync and not responding to the systematic cues alerting you to the fact that something is out of sync.

There is a fraction of a moment in each instance before taking an action, speaking a word, or even thinking something, that we weigh which choice to make - should I eat the salad, or skip real food and eat ice cream? - should I stay late at work, or should I go spend an hour walking since I just finished that intense report for my boss? - should I say something or not?

In that split-second, fraction of a moment all is done. If only we could be so in alignment with ourselves that we needn't ask because in that infintessimal moment, asking is superfluous. We already know the answer, and we are asking because we are leaning towards the choice of going out of sync rather than staying true to ourselves.

If, on the spiritual level, we can find that place of peace that passeth all understanding, that is the place where we need not ask, we can move simply in alignment with our highest selves, we can, in essence, be true to our own selves. There in that place there is no need to have FLASHING RED LIGHTS, SIRENS, PAIN, DISCOMFORT or other maladies that are the result of being out of sync. There we have peace, we take right action, we move in synchronization with our spirits and we need not suffer.

To thine own self be true. Give yourself permission to renounce suffering and embrace joy, happiness, fulfillment and peace. Look to find those infintessimal moments when you are asking a question and making a choice between what is true for you and what isn't, and see if you can stop for a moment, take a breath and reassess, allowing yourself to make a better choice.

Blessings.
