Detox from Stress

A friend of mine said today, "Stress is the difference between how things are and how you think things should be." (thanks Dr. Kartar).

Why do we think that something else is better than what is? How useful is this thinking? It is a form of resistance to the Now, an excuse for being discontented with SOMETHING which gives us a reason to be unhappy, which justifies our need to do something else, so that we will feel better and become happy... Do you see? The thinking we employ to keep up the dysfunction of living anywhere but in the present is useful for the ego and for nothing else. We create incredible stress by wishing, hoping, wanting, dreaming things to be different than they are, and all that wishing actually feeds the stress further with the illusion that things will be better once we get there at that time, anywhere but here and now.

Detox from stress by calling yourself on the idea that anywhere else in the world is more perfect than where you are, that anything else is more perfect than what is, that there is anything more perfect than you being YOU. Detoxify yourself from stress by letting go of the illusion of what you think should be happening and start to really take in what really is happening. Really look at it and see it. Really listen to it and hear it. Really touch it and feel it. Really breathe it in and become a part of it.

Today, here, right now - it is perfect; and that perfection is powerful beyond anything you can conceive. Try letting go of the stress of wanting it to be different and see how much more enjoyable life becomes.

Blessings.
