The Secret of Love

Here is a secret I can share with you about love:

There is no one - not a single person on the entire planet - who can love you the way you need to love yourself. No amount of pining for parental love, no amount of wishing for prince charming or the shining princess, no amount of desire for a partner or a lover, will bring you the fulfillment you seek and that can only be fulfilled by love of yourself.

Besides the fairly well known anecdote that if you don't love yourself no one else can anyway, the fact of the matter is, no one can love you like you love yourself. You have to be your best friend, no one else can be your best friend the way you can. You have to take care of yourself, because if you don't, you can't be there for anyone, you can't even participate in life very well and no one else can do that for you. If you don't love yourself well enough to take care of yourself, you end up riding the wave of loneliness, emptiness, and unhappiness.

Taking Care of Yourself 101 and 102 should be required learning material from junior high on because in order to take care of yourself, you have to LOVE yourself. Instead of falling into all those crazy pre-teen and teen age faulty assumptions about who loves you and who doesn't, we would be well-served to learn to love ourselves. It would make us more compassionate beings and with enough compassion love is inevitable, peace is inevitable, healing is inevitable.

Quit waiting for someone else, quit with the expectations on others to fulfill this one basic need that you need to fulfill yourself. It's no one else's responsibility - it's yours. Take it, embrace it, explore it and start on that journey of self-love. It is the only secret to love you will ever need. Because what you vibrate is what you attract and the more you vibrate love, the more your life will be filled to overflowing with love. That's a secret worth knowing.
