The Disenchanting Illusion

In the face of aridity and disenchantment, there is naught to do but put one foot in front of the other until they find the rhythm of the dance. In the end, it doesn't matter - what happens simply doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is how you respond. So this happened, so that happened, doesn't matter. How did you react? That's the only question you have to answer.

If you are unable to take life in the place of neutrality, there is work to be done. If you react, there is work to be done. If you freeze in fear, there is work to be done. If there is any attachment whatsoever, there is work to be done.

It's no use harping on what everyone else is doing and everything that is happening in the world. There is enough going on at any given moment in time to give each and every person on the planet lots of ways to practice the art of staying neutral and unattached. Life is the exercise, and we're given plenty of opportunity to practice, so let's not lose sight of what's important. What's important is not what everyone else is doing, it's your response to it. What's important is not what is happening, but your response to it.

Everyday there is aridity and disenchantment in life, when we hold tight to the illusion that the way we think things should be is the way things should be. Things are what they are. We can occasionally tap into what they are and be in alignment with it, but we are never in control of it and things don't happen because of our illusion. The illusion is just an illusion, and it doesn't mean a thing, life's going to happen anyway. The tighter we hold to that picture perfect image, the more upset we get when life doesn't turn out that way. Neutrality is the opposite - learning to be present with what is instead of trying to fruitlessly bend what is to our own machinations.

Take life's aridity and disenchantment and find the beauty in this very moment. Instead of tightening up and blocking out what is and expecting something else, loosen, unbend your will and you will see that there is amazing, wonderfulness when you look to see what is in the moment you're in now.

Blessings.
