Blossom Forth

It gets so dark
in here
it gets too easy
to forget
how to embrace
life
with love
and attention to detail
and then
the ice cracks
the sun seeps through
we show ourselves
in little buds
of promise
the promise of
who we are
when we blossom forth
a condition
not dependent
on seasons
or permission
but rather
when we
strive towards the light
and open
to embrace it
and blossom forth
in love
