Just Start

My teacher used to say, "When the time is upon you, start and the pressure will be off." We spend altogether too much time contemplating the possible outcome of what we're doing, where we are going. All that time spent contemplating is time spent in non action and it's time we have to get really worried and stressed about what's going to transpire, what's coming, what's going to happen. Only those things (worry and stress) and totally unhelpful.

Life is a complex array of roads and paths, in all directions, and every action does have a consequence, this is true. But worry and stress doesn't change that. Whether or not you worry and stress, every action will have a consequence; whether or not you worry and stress, life will happen. Sitting huddled in fear of what could or might happen just holds you back from living.

So there is a complex array of things you have to do, just start and the pressure will be off. So there are tough things you have to grapple with each day, just start and the pressure will be off. So you can't know the future, you can't know the absolute outcome of your actions right this instant, just start and the pressure will be off.

There's this picture perfect image we have in our minds of how things are supposed to be that is as unreal as it is improbable. And then there is this fear mechanism that triggers in because somewhere in our consciousness we know this that it is as unreal as it is improbable. And then, because we recognize how out of control we are, we kind of seize up and end up not doing anything.

Break the chains of that inaction by taking positive action. Today. Don't wait, don't let yourself become enslaved by stress and worry. Do what you have to do, recognizing that by just starting the pressure will be off for a future as bright and as wonderful as you could wish/dream/create.

Blessings.

P.S. This is one of the Aquarian Sutras given by Yogi Bhajan. I'll be writing about the others too...

Understand through compassion; otherwise you might misunderstand the times.
Recognize that the other person is you.
When the time is on you, start and the pressure will be off.
There is a way through every block.
Vibrate the cosmos; the cosmos shall clear the path.

- Yogi Bhajan
