Within Our Power

There are some things within your power and some things that are not. In a fairly simple division, you could say that you can change yourself, but you can't change things outside of you, even though things outside of you are almost always affected by your changes as well.

But quite often we pray for the things outside of ourselves to change. "Please change this situation, please change that person, please make this happen, please stop that from happening..." And all the while our prayers are directed to everything outside ourselves. I was listening to a podcast from Marianne Williamson the other day where she said, "Pray instead that whatever it is in you that is calling these situations in life can be released."

Yes! Exactly - when we carry our own common sense and knowledge about ourselves (I can change myself, I can't change things outside of myself, except when the energy of my changes inadvertently affects them) into our world of prayer, our prayers become much more clear and can become reality much easier. Instead of praying for something to get out of your life, pray that you no longer need to attract such things into your realm of experience. Instead of praying for someone to love, pray to release whatever fear exists in you holding you back from being open to love. Changing ourselves lies within our power - pray for that.

We will never be able to change a person, or a circumstance outside ourselves, it is simply not written, it is not within our power. But we can change ourselves, and the changes that begin to happen around us when we change, are magical!

Blessings.
