Success is Customer Controlled

Those of us who work in the service industry, and actually - ALL of us, need to remember that it is the customer who drives the product and not the other way around. Ultimately a customers business is what stands between success and failure. If you have their business, you are successful, if you don't, your business venture might not fare so well.

The problem is that we forget this far too often. We tend to think we are the ones driving the boat, we tend to think our decisions, ideas, knowledge are what rules the roost; but in this outlook, service is forgotten and things can become self-centered.

You can, however, remove self from the equation by practicing selfless service. Selfless service is the practice of recognizing that its the customer who drives the boat and rules the roost, and that although you are the delivery agent, it really isn't about you at all.

Your success is dependent on this.

And - you can take and use this principle in nearly every facet of your life. Raising a child? You can think you're in charge, but it's only temporary, and if you haven't taken your child into serious consideration, if you haven't take self out of the equation and recognized that you are the servant with the opportunity to provide a very selfless service, chances are your child will let you know when they take off into their own world and close you out.

Running a business? Interacting in a relationship? Dealing with the ups and downs of friendships? Your success lies in your ability to remove self from the equation of what you're dealing with and recognizing first that the other person is you, and second, that by practicing selfless service, success is ultimately yours.

"Go out into the world and bless the world." You can't bless the world and be telling it what it has to do in some vague idea that you can control the outcome of anything in life.

So - go; go out in the world and bless the world by remembering that it's not necessarily about you, by removing self and focusing your energy on selfless service.

Here's to your success.

Blessings.
