Different 2

Earlier I wrote that doing things differently and doing different things are both very important. They are both super important because we impose incredible limitations on ourselves through our patterns of habit. We say, "I can only go this way to work, no other way will work," and we have limited ourselves. We unconsciously do this all the time, and by consciously choosing to do things differently and to do different things we begin to expand our consciousness. It's not a matter of doing things that will succeed or fail, so much as it is a matter of doing things in such a was as to shatter our tunneled vision of life, to smash our limitations.

I definitely understand the need for routine, but I don't approve. The conditions of our lifestyles have turned us into absolute busy bees. Work is good, but the way our modern societies are compounded is that though we live together we are all separate. That tribe mentality is missing and so everyone is doing everything themselves - a virtually impossible task, as it turns out. Busy, busy, busy and then yes, specific patterns help us keep it all together. I know where the can opener is because I always put it here, I know where the keys are because I always hang them there, I know that these roads get me to work quickest, I know exactly where to click with the mouse to get to all the programs I use most often...

Yes we have turned into veritable robots with our systems and our order.Systems and order are beautiful in themselves, it's just that our minds automatically follow suit by saying, there is ONLY this system and ONLY this order, our eyes become tunneled and soon we can no longer see beyond them.

That is when doing things differently and doing different things can come in handy. You can still value and utilize all the systems and order you need to get through your day, but with those little changes, you can also see life beyond them.

So once again I say - strive, strive, strive to do something different each day. Learn to be playful. Put the toothbrush in a different place, consciously place the can opener in another drawer, drive a different way to work, try a recipe you chose by opening up the cookbook to a random page, go somewhere different, do something differently. This little change of behavior opens up the flood gates to creativity, excitement and passion in life. Go for it!

Blessings.
