What brings us down is when we forget that the other person is us. We think we are separate, better off, worse off, higher, lower, more important, or whatever than the next person and we aren't.
That person who stands up and shouts out to the world that he thinks health care is a privelege and not a right, he is so stuck in this world of believing he is better, higher, separate, and more worthy than others.
It's an illusion of control and power to believe that you are better than anyone else, more deserving, and it will surely bring you down. What are control and power when it comes to your final moments? Will you be able to say you have truly loved? Will you be able to say you have truly been loved? And how can you have known God if you haven't?
There must be a reason why ALL the sages and saints and prophets and holy teachers of the world say the same thing - perhaps compassion is more important than, say, power. Perhaps love is more important, than, say love. Perhaps living in truth - that you and I are in this together - is more important than sitting on a lonesome and cold pedestal of illusory entitlement. That house built on judgment will surely crash. That seat built on separating you from the plight of all others is actually non-existent.
The premise for life:
Love - love, love, love everyone, because you are them
Compassion - feel for the plight of others, because you are them
Remove the barriers that your judgment creates - you are no different from them
Be kind - because what goes around really does come back around
Serve - because service keeps you in touch with reality
There is no separation in reality. We ARE all one, whether we want to acknowledge it or not - the only difference is that one life is full of unbearable pain and one is full of unbelievable joy. Those who control, and contort, manipulate and powertrip over others, they are unhappy beings. Let them go - they were born - to go. Make a different choice with your life by what you do and how you act.
Blessings.
