What we generally don't do these days, is put alot of effort into being nice. It's so much easier to just be angry, it's so much easier to just be brusque, cold, distant, haughty, condescending, judgmental, unkind. Or is it?
All of those characteristics represent imbalance, and often they represent pain, because they are secondary emotions, feelings covering other feelings we aren't willing to look at and address.
What is easy about the lack of reaching out and connecting? What is easy about anger? What is easy about living in that kind of cold, callous distance to the rest of the human race? It's not easy to have a life where anger is your response to pain, and where fear is your response to what life presents.
There are simple ways to release yourself from this life:
- Feel pain when it happens and let it go
- Seek out the true cause of your anger (hint: it is never outside of yourself)
- Speak warmly, nicely, kindly, practice it until you master it
- Talk less, listen more
- Judge less, hug more
- Be kind to yourself
Today, here, now - choose the path that brings happiness, ease, joy, comfort, love. Let go of the rest - there's nothing easy about that much pain.
Blessings.
