Coming together

There is something about the communion of souls that is precious beyond price. It's the place where facade is dropped, where walls are leveled, where shields are no longer wielded.

Gathering together has always been an important facet of community. Why is our modern world so geared towards isolation? I think because in isolation there is insecurity and in insecurity there are sales to be made.

We block ourselves off in life - we have music blaring in our ears, stereos that are far louder than need to be, portable electronics to occupy even the shortest moments of time, phones that make us reachable, texting for a silent moment...We are overrun with tools of communication, but who stills know how to discuss what is happening with their soul today?

There is a time and a place for everything. Solitude and silence are deep and intimate experiences of the self, they are vastly important. So is, too, the yearning of the soul for Union. While we need silence, we also need communing. While we need solos, we need duets and choirs to feel the full richness of the music of life.

Coming together is one of the most powerful experiences in life. Today, make time to come together with those you love. It is balsam for the soul.

Blessings.
