Are we there yet? Are we there yet now? Can I relax yet? Starting tomorrow I'm going to ________________ (fill in the blank).
The thing is - if you are always waiting til tomorrow to relax, you'll never relax because tomorrow is elusive. "You run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking; racing around to come up behind you again." You will keep running. And running. And running. You will wait and wait and wait.
You can chase tomorrow's forever, getting more and more burnt out, run down and aching all over inside and out and still you will not capture tomorrow. You can only live today. You can only experience the trip today, now, and appreciate "there" once you have arrived. You can only relax, now, and appreciate how much more invigorating life is when you are not stressed out and tense and waiting on something else.
You are already living today. To be obsessed about tomorrow does today a serious disservice - it ensures that you don't experience it. This is yet again another trick of the ego to ensure that you don't go the risk of feeling any pain. But is it worth it?
Nothing is worth the loss of the experience of this moment. There is no "safety" in the ego's silly tricks - - it is so much more painful to live in this suspended state of unreality, not living the moment, but hoping to live any second now...
Can you relax now? You have to. Breathe in, breathe out - slowly, deeply, completely. Now do it again - breathe in, breathe out...slowly, deeply, completely.
This moment right here holds the essence of all of life, if you will only be present in it.
Blessings.
