Step into your greatness

"The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become."
-Charles Du Bos

It is so easy to get lost in the external accomplishments of "what we are," but then it becomes stagnant, simply another attachment that holds us back and keeps us yearning.

Lately I have been looking at the character traits that underlie greatness. Heroes have these traits, courageous people, and those who would by all means be considered people of greatness. Those traits aren't really other-worldly. They are things like honor, truth, kindness, passion, courage. They are the traits we look for in human kind, the ones we hope to find despite the media's persistant belief that only shock and negative drama will hold our attention.

These are the traits that enable us to give up what we are for what we can become. Honor unsticks us, it gives us the ability to be steadfast in our integrity and our grace. Truth frees us from the shackles of limited thoughts. Kindness is the sweetness in life, it keeps our hearts open and warm, our arms willing to hug and a deep knowledge of the rightness of serving. Passion is a driving force, and courage, courage gives us the ability to accept the challenge of any fear and overcome it.

It is not too much to ask of ourselves to be willing to step out of the complacent, well-known, comfortable place of what we are, in order to step brightly and boldly into what we can become, because what we can become holds that greatness. The one is karmic complacency - this is just the way it is, and the other is the willingness to step into destiny - I am more than what outwardly defines me.

Step today out of the outward definitions of who you are into all the vast possibility of what you could become. Step into your greatness.

Blessings.
