To Die Without Understanding

The worst thing in the world must be to go through that dying moment where everything passes swiftly before your eyes and to recognize it wasn't at all about what anyone else did. There is a modern tendency to go through life believing it's about everyone else - it's what this person did to me and that person did to me and it's about this happening and that happening...etc. etc. etc. It is a surefire way to ensure that there is no personal responsibility taken. But how horrible to be on your deathbed and have to recognize that you spent all that time moaning about what others did, when it really only matters what you did.

Recognizing this rather earlier than your deathbed can actually change that scene completely. By recognizing and living by the recognition that it's never about what others do and it's only ever about what you do, you have the opportunity to take early charge of your destiny. Yes, circumstances may happen that are out of your control, but your response is never out of your control; and your response is what makes you what you are and makes your life what your life is.

What a blessing!

In this way there need never be fear about that final moment of personal reckoning with yourself. When you live and you take responsibility for your life and what happens to you in your life, that final reckoning is like the satisfaction of having aced an exam.

But really - don't wait until that final moment to get it. Look today at your life, at your thoughts and your words and look to find your own piece of responsibility for the way things are. Take that understanding and take the reins back into your own hands by taking that responsibility and walking fearlessly through life.

With blessings and love!
