Leaders

One of the greatest gifts I have witnessed from a spiritual teacher is that he gave people the impetus to live up to who they really are. There is no permission needed to stand up and be a leader or be a teacher. It is in that moment when we finally find the courage to stand up in those shoes that we become the leader or the teacher and it is only our fear that is forever holding us back.

We wait and wait and wait for someone to come along and define what our role is, to give their interpretation, to give permission for us to take on the role we were born to live, and all it takes is for us to step into those shoes? Perhaps the gift I witnessed was the spiritual teacher for a tiny moment erasing that shadow of doubt and giving the students a clear, if short, look at their own potential.

This is an amazing blessing. How many of us sit and wonder - am I meant to do this, am I meant to do that, what if I stand up and speak, what if, what if, what if. To have a quick view of our own internal potential is exciting and invigorating, as well as inspiring. But we still have to do the work. We still are the ones who have to stand up into the shoes of the teacher and teach. We are still the ones who have to stand up into the shoes of the leader and lead. We are still the ones who have to go out into the world and bless the world.

It takes courage to step into who you really are. But somehow I am absolutely positive that it is infinitely harder and more painful not to. The pain of regret is something you just can't lose or forget. Why live to regret not being the leader you were meant to be?

Blessings.
