If we are not willing to forgive ourselves (and all others) for ever forgetting that we already are, as we stand here and now, a perfect part of a perfect whole, if we are not willing to recognize that not everything we assume is necessarily true, how can we lift our voices in honest prayer for help?
There is a part of us that needs to let go of needing to be right, in order to find out what the truth is beneath the armor. If we assume that we know everything, and that we are right, how can our prayer for guidance be authentic? If we assume that we are right and everyone else is wrong, how can we genuinely ask for help with a situation?
The only thing we can change is ourselves, and the biggest thing we can change is our perception. A Course in Miracles says again and again that miracles are a change in perception. It is in that moment, when we are willing to let go of our ego, our burning desire to be "right," that incredible assumption that we know better, that we can find a miracle. We let down those harsh, battalion walls of our thoughts and egos, and let in POSSIBILITY.
And prayer is the epitome of possibility. When we let down our guards enough to admit that maybe we don't know what's wrong, or what to do in a situation, or how to change ourselves, it is actually the letting down of our guards in prayer - the forgiveness we show ourselves - that allows the answers to come to us.
Blessings.
