When Love Comes Around

When love comes around
it will not find me
a stranger
abashed and broken
by loneliness
but rather
soaking in a tub of love
nurturing my heart
honoring the loving parts of me
so often overlooked

Yes, when love comes around
it will find me
not a broken heart
but rather with an open heart
a heart that appreciates
grace
wisdom
loyalty
kindness and
deep, deep spirit

Ah, when love comes around
it will not find me
frightened or gnarled
by what I might not know
and what I have known before
but rather simmering in the love
I know now
because I love myself
just the way I want to be loved
and the way I know how
to love another

When love comes around
I will be already be immersed
and therefore recognize
myself in it.
