Things change, time passes
children grow older
routines that were once nerve-racking
are easily the norm
everything you screamed against
is still there anyway
only now you are more
comfortable with it
Now the attachment is gone to
"it has to be different than this!"
it is what it is
children have grown personalities
you have grown
a thousand times too
mellowing after the rash
start of the fire
into a warm cozy glow
of yearning and surrender
Yearning doesn't die
lie by me
in this ever-changing space
of swirling convergence
life changes with a certainty
that is almost mind-boggling
in its intensity
But things change, time passes
children grow older
life has called to you and
the cat comes to purr its sympathy
it knows you have surrendered
to the silent rush of Love.
