By Letting Go

"By letting go of what I am, I become what I might be.
By releasing what I have, I shall find what I need.
When I feel empty and destroyed, I am about to grow.
By yielding, I shall endure."
- Antoine de Villiers

It is by letting go to that which we hold on to in fear, that gives us the freedom and the reach to embrace what we might become. The more we hold on to things, the tighter we become, the more tunneled our vision, the more reluctant we are to try something new. How can what we need come to us under such circumstances? Nothing can come unless we open to the possibilities of what isn't.

We feel scared, afraid, devastated sometimes - and yet - the Universe works in amazing ways. Lack makes us do what we would otherwise not do; if we won't willingly open up to new things, the Universe will often choreograph it so that we must. And usually, it is exactly so - if we are feeling empty, destroyed, it is a sure sign that it's another one of those growth opportunities.

We push and we push and we push and we push, but life doesn't require pushing. It requires presence. It requires us to drop our fear. It requires us to let go and let God. It requires us to step outside the limited boxes of our own thinking and open ourselves up to the vastness beyond what we know, yes, to the great Unknown.

By letting go of the illusion of control, a whole new world opens up - we become things we never imagined we could amount to, we find what we need, we grow and grow, and we endure. Not only do we endure, but we create a legacy that long outlives us. We pass it on to our friends, our families, our children. We teach them to reach beyond what they are and open themselves to what they might be, we teach them to release what they have so that they might find what they need, and they grow and endure, too.

By letting go, we dance freely and take up life on the opportunity of the moment. Go for it.

Blessings.

Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide

Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them

Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise

I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains

Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear

Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall
