What Are You Going to Do About it?

It is what it is, things are what they are, there is really no doubt about that, nor is there really any need for discussion. The only question that begs answering is what are you going to do about it?

Many things can be said on a long afternoon, but what action was taken? For all that we like to sit and discuss things, take them apart mentally and put them back together again with a juicy side of opinion, gossip and running commentary, nothing changes. To change anything, action is required. And it's up to each and every one of us to choose to take action rather than sit with the things that are out of sync, or just plain wrong in our lives, yes, even in the world.

Today (or tomorrow) make a difference by changing one thing rather than just talking about it. Don't bitch about the communication in your family - take it into your own hands to bring people closer. Don't complain about the quality of the food you bought - go buy the ingredients and create a feast for the senses. Don't sit moping because you are alone, call a friend, have some friends over, or go visit some elderly in a nursing home.

The holidays can be a tough time for people. You see it everywhere etched into people's faces: stress, anger, tiredness, frustration, loneliness, and you hear it in snatches of conversation; snide remarks about the superficialness of the holidays, or how commercial it's all become and so on. Everything is true if we accept it to be true. And the opposite also applies - if we refuse to accept it, i.e. we DO SOMETHING about it, that truth can't exist. Find or make meaningful gifts, make sure that your conversations aren't superficial, create memories, choose meaning and love over all those more stressful feelings and make them your own.

Every where, every day there are one million choices we can make to DO SOMETHING. Balance comes from the place that understands that thinking about things has to be balanced with the counterpart - action. Take it into your hands today. Don't just think, do. Don't just discuss, take action.

Blessings.
