The Right to Happiness

You have the right to be happy. It is your birthright, your very own privilege, something no one can take away from you. Above all things, you have the right to be happy.

At the core of all change is the desire to be happy. It's just that we sometimes forget that we have permission.

With so many other things to think about - it's no wonder our very own happiness sinks to the bottom of the list. There are bills to be paid, and work to be done, and children to be raised, and the world to be seen, there are political issues, environmental issues, and on the list goes...one's own happiness naturally is forgotten in it all.

But it's not right. Happiness is our birthright. That means we have permission to be happy, no matter what. And whatever stands in the way of that - that is what needs to be changed. I write about change, I teach change, I coach change, but underneath it, it is all about helping people give themselves permission to be happy and to take the steps necessary to attain happiness.

It feels almost trite to write it, because love, not happiness, is the core of all goodness in the world, of everything beautiful, cosmic, all-encompassing, and yet, there is no greater love than self-love. It heaves us out of the depths of ordinary living and into the realms of God-consciousness, because it is the source of our own personal permission to seek happiness, to be truly happy.

It is time to heal what stands in the way of your happiness.

Blessings.
