Fighting Hopelessness

These are crazy times. It's kind of like we've been thinking for years, "It can't get worse than this," and it DOES! Right now the energy is intense, really intense. I've been checking around with friends around the world, with message boards and woo woo sites and political sites and pretty much everywhere it feels a little frenetic.

My hit on this is that we are trying - desperately - not to fall any deeper into hopelessness than we already are. And that's tough given the current political situation, the current war situation, the current world hunger situation, the current economy situation, the current day life situation. It's hard not to get riled up and pissy about the dirt in the way of the light. But what do you do?

Well, here's what you do. You pray, you chant, you vibe good vibes, you say affirmations, even if you don't believe them right away, you speak positively even if you don't feel that way, you refuse in any and every way to come from the place of fear. It's our only hope.

Really - the anger, the frustration, even the hopelessness all come from a place of fear. Unfortunately we are a country that is lead by greed - big business, big corporation, big politics - it's all about greed. Greed, sadly, is a product of fear. We are being driven in our industries, our consumerism, and even more sadly, in our governing offices, by fear. And all that is needed for it to be complete, is for us to buy into to it too.

Don't. Simply refuse. I know as well as the next person that it's hard to be jovial when you don't know when your next paycheck is coming, or how to manage with the outrageous cost of living against middle and lower class wages, or how to survive medical costs. But if we buy into the fear, the negativity, the power struggles for the sake of greed - we lose the game entirely. To live in fear, is to not live at all.

The only way to combat fear is with love and that sounds too darned funky, but there are other, simpler measures that can be taken.

We can STOP talking about how awful it would be for the country to continue on its current course. We can stop being afraid of someone like Sarah Palin, living in mortal fear of someone of her deteriorated caliber coming into a major government office. We can stop talking about how bad everything is. We can stop talking about the collapsed economy. We can stop talking about gas prices getting higher and higher.

And we can START talking about how great it is, that this country was born on the faith of having a chance. WE can start talking about the good things. We can start remembering that the people hold the power, and that government officials are our servants. We can start calling them to order. We can speak only positive and uplifting words. We can stop complaining and take action. We can practice gratitude, because even in destitute and seemingly desperate times, gratitude is the key to prosperity, hope, and success.

If everyone in America said only positive things for 5 days - the entire energy of the planet would shift. Fear can't live in positive soil. It needs darkness, it needs rot, hatred, disdain, arrogance, greed and negativity to live and to thrive. This terrible darkness and fog that lies over us exists because we are buying into it. And that's a choice.

I don't know about you, but my imagination is fertile enough to see incredibly horrible outcomes to our present situation. BUT WE CAN CHOOSE A DIFFERENT ENDING. It takes only a little courage. And there is power in numbers. The exponential power of everyone agreeing to choose a different ending is what can change our world. THAT is real power.

Blessings.
